Sweaty or Clammy

Here's What You Should Know:
Feeling sweaty or clammy? Be sure to check your blood sugar with a glucose monitor. This symptom might otherwise be attributable to dehydration. Make sure to hydrate!

Home Care Tips:

To alleviate energy sweatiness or clamminess associated with low blood sugar, consider these tips:
-Avoid prolonged periods without food to prevent drops in blood sugar levels.
-Opt for complex carbohydrates that provide a slow and steady release of glucose into the bloodstream. Examples include whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables.
-Include protein in meals and snacks: Combining protein with carbohydrates can help stabilize blood sugar levels and provide sustained energy. Include lean protein sources such as poultry, fish, tofu, eggs, and dairy products.
-Monitor portion sizes and avoid overeating: Be mindful of portion sizes to prevent excessive spikes in blood sugar levels. Balanced meals with appropriate portions can help maintain stable glucose levels.
-Carry a source of fast-acting glucose: Always have a quick source of glucose on hand to treat low blood sugar episodes. This can include glucose tablets, fruit juice, or candies specifically designed to raise blood sugar levels rapidly.
-Make sure to stay hydrated. Please also monitor the color of your urine. If it is darker yellow it might be a sign of dehydration.

When To Contact A Medical Professional:
If your blood sugar monitor shows that your blood sugar is reading low please reach out to a medical professional as soon as possible.

If you have been feeling sweaty or clammy for more than two weeks and it’s not getting better it might be time to talk to a medical professional about adjusting your medication dose or switching to a new one.
